About
Susan Anderson has a deep love of the outdoors and a strong personal connection to the landscapes she encounters along her way. As an avid walker and hiker, she enjoys exploring the coastal trails and winding back roads of Southern California. Her paintings serve as a reflection of the natural world she passes through. She hopes that viewers feel a personal connection to their own moments spent on coastal canyon trails.
“There is always a path ahead or just beyond view, Leaves vibrate. Light shifts. Shadows etch texture in the felted brush and scrub grasses. Crumbling acorn dirt sifts under an oak. Silence. Energy. Our trail is out of sight, then returns. a scent of sage rises on the warm air. Perhaps an airplane drones far away, high and distant in the still sky. And I am moving through it all. Just being there in that place in time.”
